Working with Frames
Adding frames in Ace Expert is not difficult. For illustration purposes we will build a page which has four frame sections as pictured to the right. You should have some idea of what you want your page to look like and how you will set it up. It Pays to plan ahead. I have created the four htm pages that we will use for this demonstration and zipped them click to download
For this page we will have four table areas. Title area - where you can place you title graphic.
Border area- for those border backgrounds. The main page area - where the page data goes. The menu area - a place to put your copywrite information and written menu links.
To start click on open a new file, your frames file is normally your index.html file. If you already have a file called index.html then call this one something else. You can add the necessary meta tags or copy the ones from another page. DO NOT SET THE BODY ITEMS- Framesets do not have a body tag in them, they are just a way of telling the browser to display the htm's that are listed within them.
Click on the tables, frames, and lists tab:
Now click on the frames icon
and the following screen will appear: (Note: the red titles were put there for reference they will not appear on your screen until you mouse over the icons).

For our page we want the title area to go completely across the page. So first we will split the screen horizontally. Just click on the icon and your screen will split horizontally your screen should look like the one below:
To adjust the size of the frame just move the bar that the arrow is pointing to and then click in the bottom section. Your screen should now look like the one to the left.
Now click on the bottom section. It will turn blue and the top section will be white. The blue section is the active section of the frame.

Next we will split the bottom section vertically by clicking on the vertical split icon:
Now move the vertical bar (red arrow is pointing at) to the left. Your screen will look like this.
Be Sure to click in the right lower section.
Now we will add the bottom menu area. Click on the split horizontal again.
Then move the horizonal split bar down toward the bottom. Your screen will appear as the below:
Now we have finished the setup of the page.
If you click on okay now you will get an error message.
We need to tell the software what to put into each section of the frame.
Continue on to frames page two to learn how to set the properties for each table section.
